1. Will my child be in a class with children of the same age?
Though we try to accomodate your age requests, our classes are set up to progress on a skill level basis. Once certain skills are not only achieved, but mastered, then a student will be moved to the next level. We feel that having each child in the ability appropriate class is our paramount consideration. We always want your child to be in the level where he or she will have the safest and highest quality learning experience.
2. When is registration?
Registration takes place in July and August of each year. Returning students are given first priority with the entire first day of registration exclusively for them.

Saturday, August 17th 3:00 – 5:00 pm

Sunday, August 18th 1:00 – 3:00 pm

3. Do I need to let the studio know if my child will be absent?
Yes, please!! We would appreciate a phone call as soon as you know your dancer will be absent. This helps the teacher to prepare the lesson for the day. However, we do worry about you when you are absent too!
4. When can I become a teacher's assistant?
Students are asked to become assistants by studying all subjects for several years. Good attendance in your classes is a must! Please let us know if you are interested in becoming a teacher’s assistant. There will be a training session in August before classes start. All teacher’s assistants must attend, even if they have assisted a class before.
5. I have concerns about the class my dancer is in - what can I do?
You may schedule a conference with your child’s teacher and/or the studio director if you feel strongly about this. However, please remember that our staff is highly qualified and places students in the classes that are best suited for them technically and emotionally. Our instructors are very highly trained in dance and dance pedagogy. Any questions or concerns will be addressed individually on a case by case basis.
6. Why does my dancer have to conform to dress code for every class?
Students follow a dress code that reflects professionalism and discipline.

Proper dress code allows instructors to see body-lines and make appropriate corrections. No t-shirts, tank tops, gym shorts, or sweatpants may be worn over leotards during class. Tights must be worn under leotard. In order to protect the dance floor, dance shoes should be kept clean and are not to be worn outside the studio.

Hair must be pulled back in a pony-tail or bun and kept away from the face. No jewelry of any kind should be worn to class. Proper hair and no jewelry are a matter of safety, not fashion.

It is very important that all dance shoes, bags, etc are labeled with the student’s name. BDA is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

All dancers are to keep their bags in a cubby during lessons. Please do not leave your belongings anywhere else!
7. Why should I stay out of the classroom while my dancer is in class?
It is distracting to both dancers and instructors to have parents or visitors in the studio (classroom) during lessons. The instructor also works hard to establish authority during their classes. If a parent steps in to reprimand or discipline their child, you are putting the teacher in a position where they will never be considered the authority. Please observe your dancer’s progress through our viewing windows.
